On May 14th, HIV Community Link hosted the 4th annual Splash of Red event to raise awareness of HIV and funds to support programming in Calgary, Medicine Hat and Brooks. The funds raised – over $60,000 - take us a step closer to reaching more than 10,000 people through our prevention, education, and support programs this year.

The event took place at the Fairmont Palliser and it featured the fabulous Terri Stevens, and music from Vanilla Disco and Ellen Doty combined with the talent of many burlesque, roaming circus and swing dance performances. We raised $19,045 from our silent auction alone, which featured work from local artists such as Erica Neumann and Daniel Culcea, a live art piece by Rich Theroux, and some fantastic experiences.

Splash of Red was also an important HIV awareness event and benefited from the presence of the Honourable Stephanie McLean, Minister of Service Alberta and Minister of Status of Women, Mr. Michael Connolly, MLA for Calgary-Hawkwood, Mr. Brian Malkinson, MLA for Calgary-Currie and Ric McIver, MLA for Calgary-Hays and interim leader of the Progressive Conservative party.

A special thank you to our volunteer Splash of Red committee, who worked hard to provide an amazing experience. Also, thank you to the artists who donated their talent, and to our donors, patrons, volunteers, and to everybody who attended the event.

Thank you to our sponsors:
